Reading Team The reading team will be responsible for various reading incentive programs, book clubs, weekly newspapers and coordinate an annual spelling bee for CHEER members. The team will organize and coordinate programs such as Pizza Hut Book It!, Braum’s Book Buddy and other programs of a like nature. The team will be responsible for collecting money, placing and handling orders for Scholastic Book Club, God’s World News Book Club and God’s World News weekly newspapers.
Co-op Team The co-op team will be responsible for coordinating and running a CHEER co-op. The team will secure a building where co-op classes will be held. They team will also decide on classes to be offered for all ages, secure teachers for each class, prepare and distribute paperwork necessary for sign-ups, monitor classes throughout the semester and handle all financial responsibilities involving the maintenance of the co-op. This Team is the only “closed Team” meaning members are chosen by the Steering Team.
Younger Family Service Project Team This service project team will be responsible for facilitating service projects for K-6th grade throughout the year with families of CHEER. The service projects may include Meals on Wheels, Operations Christmas Child and any other projects that would help children learn to serve in the community.
Older Family Service Project Team The service project team will be responsible for facilitating service projects for 7-12th grade throughout the year with families of CHEER. The service projects may include John 3:16, Operation Christmas Child Warehouse, Voice of the Martyrs, and any other projects that would help students learn to serve in the community.
Meeting Team The meeting team will be responsible for coordinating the meeting facilities and providing refreshments for each monthly ladies’ meeting. The team will coordinate with the facility any items that need to be handled for each meeting, open the facility early for set-up, set-up and tear down any rooms used during the meeting. The team will also coordinate refreshment sign-ups, set up the refreshment area and clean up for each monthly meeting.
Membership Team The membership team will be responsible for all items relating to membership needs of CHEER. This will include updating and handling the New Member packets, creating and distributing membership cards used to obtain discounts at local stores, and creating and updating a support group roster of all members’ personal information to be given to CHEER members. The team will also be responsible for creating individual permanent name tags for each member to be used at each ladies’ meeting. The membership team will be responsible for being at the new membership information table to pass out new member bags, visitor information cards, name tags and answer any questions.
Communication Team The Communication team will be responsible for maintaining consistent communication within CHEER. This Team is responsible for creating and updating the CHEER Roster throughout the year as well as putting together a pictorial directory at the beginning of each year which includes taking pictures of members, creating the directory, printing, taking orders and distributing the directory. A yearbook coordinator will help plan, organize, sell and distribute a yearbook of CHEER families and yearly activities. A newsletter editor is responsible for collecting information, articles, and putting together our monthly newsletter. A Yahoo e-loop and CHEER website coordinator is responsible for maintaining and monitoring our CHEER e-loop and website as well as keeping the CHEER calendar. A Library Spokesperson will handle all communication with the Library system. Team T-shirt orders and sales will be handled by this Team as well as updating the Welcome board and CHEER brochure as needed. This team will also include the treasurer who will be responsible for collecting money from CHEER activities, membership, fundraising and any other events/items and maintaining all financial records and reports.
Ministry Team The ministry team will be responsible for meeting the ministry needs of CHEER that arise throughout the year. The ministry team will provide meals to members having babies, illnesses, deaths, and anything that is deemed necessary. The ministry team provides prayer and encouragement to members throughout the year. The ministry will be responsible for coordinating Mom’s Night Out. They will also serve as greeters at the monthly Moms meetings.
Support to New Homeschoolers Team This responsibility of this team is to help those who are new to homeschooling through various activities. The new-to-homeschooling team is responsible for planning activities to assist and fellowship with new homeschoolers such as progressive dinners, make and take game nights, ice cream socials and/or any activities that are pertinent to new homeschoolers. This team is also responsible to collect and assemble packets of information that are helpful to members who are new to homeschooling.
Pre-School Moms Fellowship Team The preschool fellowship team is responsible for providing support and advice for moms with preschool age children, as well as opportunities for the children to play and learn together. The team is responsible to plan activities such as park play day, lunch bunch, and any other activities to allow preschoolers to interact while allowing moms to develop friendships with other preschool moms.
Elementary Team The elementary team is responsible for providing opportunities for elementary-age children (5-11) to interact and learn together. The team is responsible to plan activities such as game night, library share day, park day and any other activities to help foster interacting among elementary children in CHEER. The team will also provide some separate activities for boys and girls.
Middle School Team (6th through 8th grade) The Jr. High team will be responsible for providing opportunities for Jr. High children (6th-8th grade) to interact and develop friendships. The team is responsible to plan activities such as game nights, theme parties, or any activity that would promote interaction among Jr. High aged students in CHEER. Activities may also be planned separately for boys and girls.
High School Team (9th through 12th grade) The High School team is responsible for providing opportunities for high school students to interact and develop friendships. The team will plan activities such as game nights, theme parties, and field trips to help foster relationships among CHEER high school students. Activities may also be planned separately for boys and girls.
Field Trip Team ( K- 8th grade) The field trip team is responsible for planning appropriate field trips for children kindergarten through 8th grade. The field trip team will plan age-appropriate field trips throughout the year. The team will be responsible for contacting the field trip site, making all necessary arrangements, sign-ups, money collection and follow through for each field trip. The team will make sure that there is a balance of age-appropriate field trips for elementary and Jr. high students. Early email sign-ups will be excepted for Team Leaders not able to attend the monthly meeting or those who are busy with the work of CHEER on the meeting night.
Special Events Team The special events team is responsible for planning and coordinating one-time special events for CHEER moms and families. The events would include Fall Mom’s Getaway, beginning-of-the-year picnic, Barn Party,track and field day, mother-daughter tea, Spring Fling, and academic fairs such as a science, geography or history fair, musical, and Veteran’s Moms Dinner.
