This class will help your child open up their creativity, give them communication skills, prepare them for public speaking, give them confidence working in/with large and diverse groups of people and build tremendous team working skills. This is certainly NOT just a class for kids interested in becoming "actors", it is a well rounded course that will give your child confidence and abilities that they will be able to use in all areas of their lives!

I love kids and really enjoy drawing the creativity out of them. I am somewhat new to the drama scene, actually, but am voraciously learning and developing along the way. Come and learn with me! Tuition: $10 per semester
Supply fee: $15
Class limit: 15 students
Description for Life Skills (1st semester): This class will consist of practical application of some of life’s principles such as: responsibility; choices; freedoms; boundaries; leadership; true friendship; accountability; goal setting, etc...
We will use things such as: meal planning; budgeting; tire changing; giftings test; possibly personality test; career interest research; being responsible for a sack of flour for 1 week as if it were a baby and any other creative ways we can think of to help apply life’s principles into a Life Skill.
Designed to be a fun and creative way to reinforce the power of choices and the freedoms and responsibility that come with good choices, but also the freedom to choose irresponsibly and feel those consequences as well.
There will be homework limited to a maximum of 30 minutes a day, but I believe averaging 15 minutes a day. Although the weeks we meal plan and grocery shop and fix a meal may take a little longer.
Taught by:
2 of CHEER's Mom's, having between them 6 kids ranging in age from 8 to 18.
Description for Book Discussion (2nd semester):The goal of this class will be to look for Life’s Skills and choices made by those we read about. Using their lives to reinforce character choices through discussion; play acting; possibly dioramas or decoupage; possibly drawings - bottom line we will be looking for others positive and negative choices and how that affected their lives and looking for ways to make a picture for our memories to hold those lessons.
The list of books will be decided at a later date with a preference given to books from the Sonlight Curriculum suggested for this age group. We will read at least 3 books during the semester and possibly more if the group participation and discussion allows.
The homework in this class will be reading the books and at a minimum drawing a page of pictures to represent some of the key choices noticed and discussed in the book. The homework will probably consist of 30 minutes per day including reading the book.
Teachers R Us Classes—Middle School/Elementary
Teachers R Us classes will enable moms to share their particular teaching styles, learn new techniques from other moms and work together to teach some of the classes that are more difficult to teach at home alone. Each mom will sign up for a minimum number of slots each semester to teach. There will be two moms each week who will work together to create a fun, activity-oriented lesson for the students. A curriculum/textbook will be provided with books and resources for each class. You will not have to “reinvent the wheel” each week, but will work together with other moms to teach the lesson using resources and creative ideas you have generated together. It is a great way to learn new techniques and get to know other moms with children of similar ages to your own.
